John Hughes Wilcox / operating record

JohnHughesWilcox

I learned uptime at dinner service.

I design and operate autonomous software, security infrastructure, intelligence products, and digital ventures. The method was forged over twenty years of live service.

The operating room.

Archon Digital is the flagship: the company where software, security, intelligence, and cultural ventures are built as operating systems—not presentation artifacts.

Current stack / mise en place

Everything within reach.

Models are picked per task, not per loyalty. The three below carry most of the load; the rest of the roll comes out when the job asks for it.

  1. 01

    Claude

Primary driver — reasoning, agentic work, and code. Opus for depth, Sonnet for pace, Haiku for bulk.

  2. 02

    GPT

Second opinion and breadth — reasoning checks and tool use.

  3. 03

    Kimi

Long-document work and cost-efficient bulk passes.

Operator provenance

Service taught me what software books cannot.

A packed restaurant is a distributed system with no pause button. Demand is uneven, resources are finite, dependencies fail, and every handoff matters. That environment trained the instincts I now bring to production AI.

The disciplines are concrete: clear ownership, useful telemetry, calm intervention, rehearsed recovery, and respect for the people carrying the load.

The dining room receives the outcome, never the recovery work.

A live system: people, timing, inventory, quality, and consequence.

The standard is visible at the pass.

The professional record starts in 2004, grows into an independent web and commerce practice in 2009, and runs in parallel with two decades of hospitality before arriving at Archon Digital with the operating memory intact.

  1. The first build shipped

A web-development internship in Kansas City made software professional work before it became the full-time brief.

  2. Service became the operating school

Twenty years in restaurants turned throughput, quality, labor, inventory, and recovery into daily muscle memory.

  3. The independent practice ran in parallel

Long before generative AI, I scoped, designed, built, launched, and maintained marketing sites and e-commerce storefronts—moving from hand-built HTML and Dreamweaver into WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, and modern deployment platforms.

  4. Multi-unit leadership under load

At Flagship Restaurant Group I led teams from eight to more than eighty, owned P&L, and helped operate a seven-concept food hall through unforgiving demand peaks.

  5. Agent engineering moved into production

Generative-AI experimentation developed into multi-agent orchestration, security tooling, intelligence APIs, observability, and live infrastructure.

  6. Archon Digital

The operating company now gives the software, products, and ventures a deliberate home—and a standard of ownership built through live service.

Founders, teams, and ambitious operating problems

Bring me the hard brief.

I am interested in applied AI, autonomous systems, technical product work, and partnerships where clear thinking has to survive contact with reality.
